Civil War 2.0

Some say our nation is hurdling toward its second civil war.

I say, America’s next civil war has already begun.

And I know what some of you are thinking:

“Leon, you’re being melodramatic. Things are bad. Very bad. But civil war? Come on! No shots have been fired. No blood has been spilled.”

Really?

• Ask the families of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, who were murdered in cold blood by a MAGA maniac.

  
  

• Ask Minnesota state senator Vance Boelter and his wife Yvette, who were also shot by that same maniac, but who remarkably survived.

  
  

• Ask Paul Pelosi, the elderly husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was beaten with a hammer by another MAGA maniac who invaded his home in the middle of the night.

  
  

• Ask Pennsylvania’s Democrat governor Josh Shapiro, whose home was torched by a yet another MAGA maniac.

  
  

• Ask Louisville mayor Craig Greenburg (another Democrat) who was the target of a shooting attempt at his campaign headquarters in 2022 (and who, thankfully, survived).

  
  

• Ask Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, whom MAGA morons came close to kidnapping in 2020.

  
  

• Ask the people who work at the Democratic National Committee office in Arizona, whose offices were riddled with bullets on three separate occasions last fall.

  
  

• Ask employees of the Centers for Disease Control, because an anti-vaxxer once shot 180 bullets into their office building.

  
  

• Ask any police officer who fought off Trump’s band of insurrectionists at our nation’s Capitol building on Jan 6, 2021.

  
  

• Ask residents of Washington D.C., who are currently living with the military policing their streets.

  
  

• You could ask any of the honest, hardworking immigrants who have been kidnapped off the streets by masked government thugs and “disappeared” with zero due process – if you can find them, that is!

  
  

I think at least some of them would agree with me!

Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts, considered the “mastermind” behind “Project 2025,” has boosted a “second American revolution will be bloodless if the Left allows it to be.”

Take him at his word.

Violent speech and threats have been openly accepted into the mainstream GOP. They revel in heartless cruelty. Hell, violence and cruelty have practically become planks in the Republican Party platform these days.

Ugly Americans

Remember the utter glee when “Alligator Alcatraz” opened? They were so giddy I thought they would pee in their pants! (Thankfully, it should be closed by court order by the time you read this.)

Trump is rapidly destroying American institutions, morals, and morale from within and without. He rewards sycophants with government positions they are wildly unqualified to hold. He weaponizes the government to go after his many critics. He literally “sics” his most rabid followers to go after his enemies. And they do. And they have! See list, above.

So, I say it again. American’s civil war 2.0 is here!

The very soul of our country, the Constitution, and the future of democracy, are under attack.

The Left hasn’t struck back with violence of their own, at least not yet. But I’m encouraged that some are leading the battle to save America. Like Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, who’s fighting back not with weapons but honest straight talk and old-fashioned resistance.

And while I haven’t always been a fan of California governor Gavin Newsom, I’ve come to believe he is leading the charge too. Newsom realizes that we need to match their moves, instead of being “holier than thou” and tsk-tsk’ing – and then losing.

So far, he’s doing battle on two fronts.

First, he realizes we must fight back with every tool at our disposal – and that social media is a powerful tool, especially when striking back against a megalomaniac.

I’m actually loving his hilariously effective memes ridiculing our pathetic excuse-for-a-President by mirroring Trump’s idiotic posts and PR style, as well as the cult-like devotion of the MAGA base.

And, naturally, the poor snowflakes on the Right are predictably triggered!

The poor hosts at Fox News? They may need group therapy! According to Media Matters for America, Fox News and Fox Business spent 2 hours and 33 minutes across seventy-one segments over two weeks wringing their hands over the mockery.

“Childish!” shrills Trace Gallagher.

“You have to stop it with the Twitter thing!” begs Dana Perino.

“I’m embarrassed for him … this only wins points with the loony radical base,” cries Sean Hannity. (He should know, right?)

But MAGA’s lack of self-awareness is truly jaw-dropping, and more than a little hilarious. And couldn’t we use a few laughs as America burns? Apparently, the answer is “yes.” The governor’s press office X account, which posts the memes, has gained 250,000 new followers and more than 225 million impressions!

Sadly, there are some clueless folks on the Left as well. Talking about you, Donna Brazile.

But Newsom isn’t just fighting back in the court of public opinion. He’s also fighting fire with fire in the halls of Congress, too!

Texas is redistricting to gain more Red seats in the House of Representatives? Terrific! Newsom proposed, and California’s Legislature just approved, a proposition on the ballot to redistrict the Golden State for more Blue seats—thus cancelling out Texas’ shady actions!

(So if you live in California, double-check that you’re still registered, and get out and vote on November 4!)

Newsom correctly claims that if Democrats fail to take back control of Congress in the midterms, America is truly done. Over. Kaput. Trump will never leave the White House. He will never face justice for his multiple crimes and grift, never face justice for being Putin’s puppet, will never face justice for being one of Epstein’s clients.

And his weaponizing of the government, and the political violence, will only increase tenfold. No free-thinking American will be safe.

And if, God forbid, that happens, then the only way to reclaim our democracy will be with civil disobedience and by fighting (with real weapons) like in the last Civil War.

Because Trump will destroy this nation. Hell, he’s already doing it!

I fully support Newsom’s efforts. And I hope governors in other blue states follow his lead, and work to redistrict their own states, before it’s too late.

Trump is a dangerous, unhinged, demented criminal and despot. America will not survive if we don’t fight back and win this war! We need to use every weapon at our disposal.

And once we destroy Trump, we must purge our government of all of his MAGA cronies, from Secretaries to secretaries.

Buckle yourselves in, boys & girls. The battle is just beginning.
