Web Series 'Old Dogs & New Tricks' Season Finale

The comedy web series Old Dogs & New Tricks wraps its successful five-episode freshman season with a super-sized season finale on Jan. 31, featuring special guest stars Thom Bierdz (Young & the Restless) and Patrick Bristow (Ellen, Showgirls, Austin Powers).
Old Dogs & New Tricks focuses on four diverse, successful gay best friends in WeHo—each located squarely within middle age—and how they react (or overreact) and adjust (or not) to getting older.
“Think The Birdcage meets Sex and the City, and you’ve got an idea of how this fabulously fun show plays,” wrote the website Placevine.com, which covers the web TV industry.

Leon Acord (Carved in Stone, Some Prefer Cake), Curt Bonnem (Kowalski, Lovelace: The Rock Opera), Jeffrey Patrick Olson (Daddy) and David Pevsner (Naked Boys Singing, To Bitter and Back) star as the four friends; cabaret star Amanda Abel and Ryland Shelton play supporting roles.
The show’s pilot has scored almost 9,000 YouTube views since its July 30, 2011 debut, and has averaged a 95 percent “like” rating from viewers. Its most recent episode, “Stuck in a Jam,” attracted over 1,000 hits in its first 24 hours on line.
Old Dogs & New Tricks is written and created by Acord, and is developed for the web and directed by Arvin Bautista (Archie’s Final Project).
Matt Ladensack, Laurence Whiting and Acord serve as co-executive producers. The show’s score is composed by veteran film and TV composer Nic. tenBroek (Dark Angel, Xena: Warrior Princess).

| With production complete on the first four episodes of Old
Dogs & New Tricks, Leon returns to the stage (albeit briefly) to reprise
the roles of "Jacob Marley's Ghost" & "'Uncle' Tim" in
Jason Moyer's adaptation of Dickens' classic, gay apparel:A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
Leon appeared in the show's previous production in
2009. This year he joins Justin Ross as
'Scrooge' and Samara Bay, Nicholas Harsin, Rachael Meyers, Kenneth Sears and
Rick Simone in an ensemble of roles.
The show runs Dec. 2-18, with performances on Fri. &
Sat. at 8pm, and on Sun. at 7pm.

ODNT Screens 10/19 in Web Series Unplugged at El Cid

Web Series Unplugged, which hosts monthly screenings of the top of the web TV series field, has selected the Old Dogs & New Tricks pilot to screen at its next program on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at El Cid.
The cast (Leon Acord, Curt Bonnem, Jeffrey Patrick Olson, Davd Pevser & more) and some of the crew will be in attendance. A cocktail mixer begins at 8pm, with the show commencing at 9pm. Admission is $8.

Old Dogs & New Tricks will be part of the line-up on Monday evening, Sept. 12, when Michael Anthony & Dennis Hensley host another evening of The Village Variety Pack at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center.

Village
Variety Pack is a mix of stand-up and sketch comedy, music, interviews,
videos and surprise guests in an old-fashioned variety show format.
Michael
& Dennis will screen the pilot as part of the evening's line-up,
and many of the show's cast and crew will be in attendance as well.
Village
Variety Pack begins at 8pm at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center located
at the Village at Ed Gould Plaza, 1125 N. McCadden, Los Angeles 90038.

Old Dogs & New Tricks to Shoot First Season

| Aug. 31, 2011 – West Hollywood, CA – Thanks to the success of the pilot of Old Dogs & New Tricks, the new web series will begin production in November on its first season, which will premiere on a weekly basis on YouTube and at its website in January 2012.
Producers plan to utilize the fundraising site IndieGoGo to help raise funds for the first four episodes. They previously used the site to great success to raise funds for the pilot.

The
pilot of the new web series, released July 30, 2011, has scored more
than 3,600 YouTube views in less than one month, with a 95% “like”
rating, with no other marketing than their Facebook and Twitter
accounts.
“Think The Birdcage meets Sex and the City, and you’ve got an idea of how this fabulously fun show plays,” wrote the website Placevine.com, which covers the web TV industry.
“The response absolutely exceeded our expectations,” says show’s star/creator Leon Acord, “and we’re very grateful for the positive reaction, and to have the chance to continue with the show!”

Leon, Curt Bonnem, Jeffrey Patrick Olson & David Pevsner star as the four friends; Amanda Abel and Ryland Shelton play supporting roles. Zay Roque and Anthony Rockwell appear in guest star roles in the pilot.
Developed for the web and directed by Arvin Bautista,
the show is a fast-paced, serialized comedy that pokes fun at the
issues of aging, especially in a youth-obsessed environment such as Los
Angeles. "I
can't believe, less than a year after I wrote it, we have the pilot
shot and almost ready to share. The entire experience --
pre-production, shooting -- has been an absolute blast. We have a
great team," says Leon.
Producers will use the pilot to raise funds for the series, which they hope to begin shooting before the end of the year.

the upcoming web series he wrote, created and produced, May 14-16 at locations in
West Hollywood, Hollywood, West Los Angeles and Thousand Oaks.
"I'm just
stunned that just ten months after I wrote the script, we've shot the
pilot!" says Leon. "The shoot was one of the smoothest, most
professional ones I've ever done--we have a great cast and crew."

OD&NT stars Acord, Curt Bonnem, Jeffrey Patrick Olson & David Pevsner as four middle-aged best friends in youth-obsessed West Hollywood, and is directed & developed by Arvin Bautista.
The show is being produced by Leon's Larilee Productions and Greasy Pig

Casting is now complete for the pilot of Old Dogs & New Tricks, Leon's new comedy web series which he also created and wrote.
Curt Bonnem and Jeffrey Patrick Olson will join Jim J. Bullock (already cast) and Leon as four best friends located squarely in middle age in youth-obsessed West Hollywood. Ryland Shelton will play a mysterious 25 year old actor/model.
Production on the pilot episode begins in May, with the series shooting in late summer/early fall. Arvin Bautista, who's developed the show for the web, will produce and direct the pilot as well as at least some of the series' episodes. Laurence Whiting is executive producing; Leon and Levi Damione are producing; Matt Ladensack is line producing.

Veteran actor Jim J. Bullock joins Leon Acord as a series regular when Old Dogs & New Tricks, the new web comedy, shoots it's pilot in Spring 2011.
Old Dogs
tells the stories of four West Hollywood friends determined to "stay in
the game," despite being located squarely within middle-age. Bullock
will play 'Ross Stein,' a one-time closeted TV star of the 1990s, who's
career has dimmed over time and who has come out of the closet. Acord
plays his agent, 'Nathan Adler,' a former wild-child who is tempted by a
man half his age.
Gordon Thompson (Dynasty) and cabaret star Amanda Abel have already signed on to play important recurring roles.
Bullock is a familiar face to audiences. His credits include the 1980s ABC sitcom Too Close for Comfort starring Ted Knight; the talker Jim J. and Tammy Faye Show with the irrepressible Tammy Faye Messner; and the 1990s version of Hollywood Squares, where he served as "Center Square." He's guest-starred on such shows as Seinfeld, Roseanne, and Alf.
Most recently, he's appeared in a long-term recurring role in the CBS daytime serial The Bold and the Beautiful.
Old Dogs & New Tricks, written & created by Acord,
premieres online early 2012 Arvin Bautista serves as supervising producer and will direct the first several episodes. Levi Damione and Leon are producing, with Laurence Whiting acting as Executive Producer.
The series will begin shooting its 13 two-part episode run in Fall 2011

Carved in Stone Closes After 12 Weeks! Jeffrey Hartgraves' hilarious afterlife stage comedy Carved in Stone, co-produced and co-starring Leon as Quentin Crisp, closed on Sept. 5 after a twelve-week run at Theatre Asylum on Hollywood's Theatre Row.
"Getting this show on the boards, after so many years and following Jeffrey's passing, is a dream come true," says Leon. "I just wish Jeffrey could have been here to see it all."

After two title changes (Mortified, Mortuary), and several years after completion of principal photography, Shawn Hazeleur's horror thriller Final Remains, in which Leon stars as mortician and serial killer Henry Parks, will finally make its US DVD debut on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, from Vanguard Cinema.
The film also stars Michelle Bellaver, Heather Hartmann, Mike Holley, Dan Lawson, Page Jackson & Phil Sheridan.

Performs in Monologue Madness! Benefit for Doctors Without Borders

Leon joined Starving Actors for Starving Children for Monologue Madness!, a benefit for Doctors Without Borders, on August 16 at 8p.m. at Electric Lodge Theatre in Venice, produced and directed by Lisa Soulé Christensen.
The evening featured Hollywood actors performing their audition pieces. Leon performed two monologues: one from Jonathan Tollins' stage comedy Last Sunday in June, in which he appeared at New Conservatory in San Francisco in 2004; the second from his dramatic film OUT, which he also wrote.
