Leaders, Directors and Elections
January 21, 2009

I can’t decide which was my favorite image from yesterday’s inauguration.  Was it Obama, taking his oath of office?  Or, seeing the helicopter carry Bush and his wicked, wasted excuse of a presidency out of Washington?  Hard to call.

Well, now that it’s official, I guess I can “come clean” about the latest developments of Carved in Stone.  Yes, we have a director!  Yes, we have a theatre!  Yes, we even have a run!

Carved in Stone will open June 5, 2008 at Theatre Asylum in Hollywood, with John Pabros-Clark directing.  Matthew Quinn at Asylum will co-produce with Laurence and myself at Larilee Productions.

John has such love and respect for Jeffrey’s script that I know he’s going to be a wonderful captain for our ship.  And Mr. Quinn couldn’t be more supportive or enthusiastic!

After so many false starts and stops, I can’t tell you how happy I am that we are finally making this happen.

You can learn more about the show at its official website, www.CarvedInStoneThePlay.com, or at its Official Facebook Fan Page.

You can bet there will be more info to come.  I just wish Jeffrey were here to share it all with!  I know he’s “seeing” it, but I miss his laugh, his smile, his ear-piercing greeting “Dah-ling!”

I mailed out my ballot this morning for the SAG Awards, having caught my last film yesterday.

I’m still arguing with friends whether Kate Winslet’s character in Revolutionary Road meant to commit suicide, or merely abort the baby?  (I say, she meant to do herself in – thus, her emotion as she said goodbye to Leo for the last time).

Frost/Nixon and Milk seem to say, the more things change the more they stay the same.  They felt so timely, even with the wide lapels and big hair.  And both films made you feel at least a little sympathetic for their “heavies.”

And I can’t stop thinking about Slumdog Millionaire – it was like watching a graphic novel come to life on film.

I won’t tell you my choices this time (as doing so always seems to jinx my favorites) – I will say it’s been a great year for film performances, with more great performances than there are awards!  I can’t wait to see who wins what!
